12/14, Third Monday of Advent/St. John
of the Cross
May I never boast,
except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ,
through which the world has been
crucified to me,
and I to the world.
I am a prideful person. If I do not watch it, I can think too highly
of myself and begin to look down on others.
Sometimes I need to, and am, humbled.
Sometimes I need to be reminded that it all comes from God. Anything good I do, or happens to me, is not
from myself but from God. What is more
humbling than the Son of God willingly accepting the humiliating death on the
cross? And so it is that we should all
humble ourselves before the Cross, and proclaim the glory of His Ultimate
Sacrifice.
