12/20, Fourth Sunday of Advent
Drop down dew from above, you heavens,
and let the clouds rain down the Just
One;
let the earth be opened and bring forth
a savior.
To start off the final week of Advent,
we have some beautiful imagery in the entrance antiphon. There are few things more beautifully
peaceful than a dew covered field early in the morning. For a long time it has been an important part
of my prayer life to pray in nature as a created being. Not treading too close to a different
spirituality, I think it is good to recognize nature as part of God's beautiful
creation. But more stunning is the
Savior who became human so that we might commune with God on a more deep level
in Heaven. May we all strive to meet Him
there.
O Key of David, O royal Power of Israel
controlling at your will the gate of heaven:
come, break down the prison walls of
death for those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death;
and lead your captive people into
freedom.
